About me

My photo
I am a stay at home mom who is raising twins. One of my guys has type 1 diabetes and one does not. I am writing this blog to unite type 1 parents or twin parents. Comment on my posts or in the "what's your high?" and "what's your low?" to join the community of parents just trying to do the best we can!

We won!

i want

Dear Medtronic, Animas, OmniPod and anyone else that makes diabetic supplies,

Congratulations on your amazing advancement of the mySentry, the exciting size change of the Omnipod, and One Touch Ping. The D moms, dads and I would like to kiss you all! Really... But..... I wanted to let you know a couple of things that I want for Christmas 2012.

Here goes:
  • I want a little device that my son blows into to check his blood sugar (no matter what he just ate).
  • I want an infared (sends a laser beam to his blood cells) continuous glucose monitor and pump port that speaks to my iPhone while he is at school. Something that sits ON his skin not IN his skin.
  • I want the continuous glucose monitor to not "get to know my son" and become 70 points off while it is learning.
  • I want insulin units to come in pieces of candy. 1unit = 1Skittle. This would make having diabetes be actually something his friends would want to have. He likes the green ones.
  • I want a tasteless Lantus type insulin put into a variety of flavored syrups he can put over waffles, pancakes or English muffins every morning.
  • I want the infared pump to also speak to my iPhone so I can dose him while he is in school and I am at the Yoga studio.
  • I don't want to stick him with anything anymore. No lancets, no cannulas, no ports. No more poking!
  • I want it to be all fail proof and I mean FAIL proof.
  • I want a beep only when something within the loop is not working and ONLY when it is not working.
  • I want a continuous glucose monitor transmitter that I don't have to use so much tape just to keep it on.
  • I want a screen (the numbers) that I can read when the sun is out.
  • I want the pump to lock itself.
  • I want the light to stay on longer so my mother in law can see it.
  • I want cool colored sites, maybe checks, polka dots, frogs, skulls, etc...
  • I want a color changing tattoo that at a glance can tell you if your blood glucose is high or low.
  • I want everything I just said in green. That is his favorite color.

Please thank your research and design team in advance from me. I look forward to my 2012 Christmas present arriving by FedEX.

Oh, one last thing I want my insurance to pay for all of this. Just sayin'...

Thank you for your time.
